Between travel sports tournaments and practices, Church can be difficult to prioritize and navigate. We want to create a solution for this that is fun and sports-themed. Pró̱ta is Greek for “First” or “Primary Importance”. We want to teach our children to put God first in this busy world as they strive for excellence.
Who is this for?
Currently, this program is intended for kids 8-13 that enjoy sports. We are hoping to serve additional ages eventually.
When is it?
We will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6pm – 7:30pm. See our Schedule Here.
Where will this program take place?
We will hold this program at different locations. We will rotate between parks, indoor facilities, and local Churches.
What can my child expect?
A normal session would look like this:
- Flexibility – Each week we will go through a 5-10 minute flexibility training regiment.
- Activity – Hiking, speed training, agility training, reflex training, and basic hand-eye coordination drills. We will log data to show your child their progress on rotational exercises and drills. One week may be first-step quickness training, the next week may be hiking at McCloud Park. Variety with purpose is the plan.
- Measured Activities – Each week we measure different distances, jumps, and activities to see our improvement through data.
- Lesson – Each week will have a Biblical theme. We will talk about how Jesus applies to our everyday lives. We will also create opportunities to serve locally.
- Evidence – Each week we will present evidence for God and the Bible. It is important that our children have evidence and know why they believe.
What does my child need to bring?
All that we require is that your child dresses for athletic participation and that they bring a full water bottle.
What does it cost?
This program is free. We will be partnering with Mercy Base Church and Gift Kindness-Non Profit. Some of the activities that we will do will involve raising funds or food drives for these organizations to do good things in our community.
Why are you doing this?
We are doing this for a number of reasons. I have two boys in this age group that play travel sports. I want them to put God first and worship him through their participation and time. I think that it is very important that we build leaders in this community that have Faith, and know why they believe. I wanted to create a program that makes learning about Jesus fun for sports-minded people.
